Transformations are emotional journeys

Project type

This podcast explores what truly makes—or breaks—organizational transformation. Through candid conversations between Humans@Center Transformation Research architects Dr. Andrew White and Adam Canwell, it reveals why putting humans at the center of change is not a “nice to have,” but a decisive advantage.

Drawing on rigorous research, the conversations unpack a clear finding: organizations that prioritize the human experience in transformation are 2.6X times more likely to succeed. Emotions play a central role. When leaders actively listen for employee sentiment, make sense of the emotional current, and respond intentionally, they build the capacity to lead change more effectively—at the individual, team, and organizational level.

The podcast also sheds light on a critical leadership reality: emotional strain increases during all transformations—but how leaders respond makes the difference. In successful transformations, emotional strain rises by about 30%. In underperforming ones, it spikes by 230%.

These insights directly inform our work in executive coaching, leadership teams, and wellbeing—helping leaders and teams treat emotions as meaningful data, regulate pressure with intention, and build the capacity to not just endure disruption, but lead through it with clarity and thrive.
